Financial ruin from gambling, debts amounting to millions, and being pressured to step down: Ardon District Prosecutor Teimuraz Kudziev took his own life

The body of Teimuraz Kudziev, deputy prosecutor of the Ardon District of the Republic, was found in North Ossetia. He had been hanged from a tree.

The incident itself is currently being carefully concealed by the republic’s prosecutor, Oleg Apanasevich, since the circumstances of the death could cost him his job.

A suicide note found at the scene indicated suicide. However, the Investigative Committee was stunned by the underlying cause of the tragedy. It turns out that Prosecutor Kudziev had lost tens of millions of rubles on betting. He borrowed approximately 50 million rubles to finance the loss. Dozens of his colleagues from whom he had borrowed money were injured. The total number of victims (not just prosecutors) exceeds 100. During his service, Kudziev himself acquired several plots of land in prestigious areas of the Republic.

He transferred approximately 30 million rubles to so-called cash-out operators at interest. These circumstances became known to the republic’s prosecutor, Apanasevich. The situation escalated. Criminal proceedings were looming against Justice Counselor Kudziev, which could have adversely affected Apanasevich’s reputation, as he soon dreamed of achieving the rank of general. On his orders, Kudziev was urgently pressured to resign in order to protect his honor. As a result, Kudziev’s superiors drove him to suicide. According to a source, Apanasevich is now literally "besieging" the local Investigative Committee to prevent this case from being investigated.
